We
have begun the migration
to V2.0 of
AVLogbook®.
We're very excited about
this new version with
totally new architecture
and an enormous increase
in speed and ease of
operation. Partner and
Director of Technology
for
ALPHAVICTOR®,
Carroll McCarroll, is
nothing short of the
strongest software
genius that we have
worked with in over 25
years of software
development. He has
taken the
"Classic" AVLogbook®
and streamlined,
tightened and added
afterburners to the
already great
design.
Current
logbook users may opt to
begin using the new
software immediately or
continue to use
AVLogbook®'s
"Classic"
logbook.
If
you are a current
AVLogbook®
user and elect to begin
using the new logbook
design, you should know
that your previous
entries in the "Classic"
format will be migrated
or back filled into V2.0
on February 1, 2009.
This is the date that
the "Classic" format
will be discontinued and
all log entries will be
made, exclusively to the
new format. As a result
of this migration, no
new subscriptions are
possible to the
"Classic" format. New
subscribers will use the
new format, exclusively.
Although
V2.0 has been fully beta
tested, we recognize
that this very complex
and revolutionary
software may have some
outstanding glitches.
However, none of your
essential entered
information will ever be
jeopardized. Glitches,
if any, will be in
navigation and/or
reporting. Important,
also, should be your
knowledge that
ALPHAVICTOR®
has been responding to
software issues with
turn-on-a-dime speed. In
most cases, we repair
issues within 24 hours.
But, again, remember
that your essential data
is never in
question.
Lockout
Feature-
If you opt to begin
using the new format,
you will be unable to
make new entries to the
"Classic" format,
however, you are
permitted to download or
view reports.
BalancesBrought
Forward-
Although new users of
V2.0 have the ability to
enter Balances Brought
Forward if they do not
choose to "back fill"
the logbook with all
previous entries,
current users of the
"Classic" logbook are
encouraged to not bring
balances from the
"Classic" to V2.0. This
will be done,
automatically, when
their "Classic" logbooks
are migrated into
V2.0.
Features
to be Added to
V2.0-
Some features included
in the "Classic" logbook
have not yet been fully
tested in V2.0, such as
CFI, DPE and Client
Invoice production.
Student Crossfill is
also disabled in V2.0.
These features will be
incorporated within the
next 60 days at no
charge to existing
logbook users, however,
these features will be
offered to new users at
a small premium cost on
an a la carte
basis.
V2.0
is a very simple program
to navigate. Our
suggestion is to log-on
to the new version as
'AV103' and the password
of '103'. Take a test
drive and navigate
through the program to
become familiar with the
tabs and screens so that
you have a more certain
knowledge of the logbook
before logging on. There
are a number of "Help"
screens available and
these will continue to
be made available for
each screen as the
unanswered questions
arise. And remember that
you can always call our
Help Line at
866.JET.1994 anytime
with your questions and
suggestions. Or, if you
prefer, write us at
support@ALPHAVICTOR.com.
Good
flying and enjoy this
new and wonderful
tool.
